Tournament Of Heroines - Katniss vs Sophie

So heres another FanFic-Mashup I've done based on a pairing from the Tournament Of Heroines. Don't think I quite nailed this one but we'll see how it goes.
This is from the still going/upcoming round two.

Katniss (The Hunger Games) vs Sophie (Hex Hall)

Both Excellent and VOTE at the following link: http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/
Remember Polls for Katniss/Sophie voting are open: 22nd/23rd December (depending on which country you live in)

And here is the fanfic-mashup, but don't forget to visit the YA Sisterhood website to read about the characters and the arguments for/against voting for them.
Once again I apologize, I haven't read Hex Hall or any of that series but I hope I got it right:

Katniss hid behind the crate aside Sophie as the lines of troops march out of the warehouse. It would be no problem to join in the line and simply escape through the doors, the problem was the guards supervising. There was twelve of them, she and Sophie were yet to figure out who was the traitor. Whoever they were the moment they saw the girls try and leave the building it would be over. “I can’t take them all out from here” Katniss whispers, Sophie shakes her head “I have a small idea of what to do with them but I’m pretty sure it could get out of control”
Both girls sighed, they had to get out of here before the Eyes people turned up. Sophie crouched beside Katniss. She’d heard only a bit about her but the things she had heard were pretty startling. “I guess we’ll have to wait it out” says Katniss. Not Sophie’s favorite idea, she wanted to be well away from the approaching eye agents but it was the best they had. And so they waited. Watching the people file out of the warehouse. “Why do the call you the girl on fire?” Katniss gave a sort of rueful smile and passed a bottle of water over to her “Long story. Why do you have all those wierd people after you?” Sophie threw it back to her “Long story”
As they watched the crowd Sophie noticed something, a soldier, one of the ones heading in was walking a little off from the others. Coming towards them. She and Katniss shrank back into the shadows, Katniss pulled out her bow. “If they come behind the crate” she whispers “I can get them without a sound, no one will notice” Sophie wasn’t sure about this but had to trust Katniss. She wanted to look away from the approaching soldier but it she felt guilty doing so. She pulled her eyes back to the soldier, She was a girl, long-ish hair with a, wait,  the girl had a pink streak in her hair. Sophie put up her hand to Katniss “Wait” Katniss lowered her aim “Jenna?” Sophie peered out from the darkness. Sure enough Jenna was rushing towards them with a package “Jenna!”
“Here to save you” she smiled handing them what looked like standard issue helmets and jackets “These should help us blend in” says Katniss, putting one on.
Katniss zipped up the jacket, thinking. What they needed was a distraction. One while they were walking in the line. It was dark outside, perfect for when they got out of the warehouse. She wasn’t sure what the temperature was like out there but it was sure to be cold. “We need a distraction, one while were walking in the line, so none of the supervisors can see out faces” Sophie looked thoughtful and stared at the roof. “Thats it! Come on” Katniss could see she had a plan, but she wasn’t eager to go along without knowing what it was. Keeping information was just as good as lying and Katniss wasn’t sure she could trust Sophie, god after what she’d been through there wasn’t many people she could trust. But Sophie didn’t seem to be the sadistic type, a fun girl. What Katniss wouldn’t give to have that light spirit again. She just hoped Sophie didn’t know about all the people she’d ruined, if she did maybe she’d have a good mind to stay away and save herself. All the same she light-footedly followed Sophie to the edge of the crate. They must have looked quite peculiar poking out from there. Sophie had already sent the helpful Jenna off down the line, the guards aren’t searching for her. Sophie stepped out and joined the end of a line, Katniss followed and did the same, she hoped to get away with the bow on her back. It was a risk but their chances on making it to safety after they fled the warehouse dropped dramatically if she didn’t have her bow. Still it made her stand out a mile from the other in the line.
As her heart was drumming in her chest it was though everything stopped. Just for a second and then the lights went out. You could hear the sound of sizzling then the popping as the globes of the lights smashed. People looked up as the glass rained down then realizing the danger turned their heads downward. Sophie grabbed Katniss arm “Run!” She didn’t need telling twice. It was like running blind through bumping bodies. Having run for her life more times than she could count Katniss was fast, soon it was her leading Sophie through the mass of confused people heading for the exit. There were shouts from guards, a couple of screams and a siren wailing. Katniss had no time to think, just sprint. No time to wonder how the globes had suddenly smashed to pieces...
Sophie felt her feet pound the concrete floor as she sped behind Katniss, they sprinted out of the building and down deserted streets, all the way to a forest ridge when after hiding under the cover of trees they took a break. Despite the rush of fear at the shouts of the guards and the mass of bodies Sophie felt herself grin. She’d caused a whole warehouse to shut down, that wasn’t really her aim, she’d only wanted to turn off the lights, but anything else may as well have come in handy. They were in a forest, sitting down and catching their breath. “Oh great, no luxury motel rooms here”
“Get over it” Katniss snapped. She often got snappy in the stressful moments “Sorry, were, I’m just a bit on edge”
“Its okay, I get it. And we do have a long way to go” she managed a smile “But first rest”

Once again the story cannot end with one Heroine surpassing the other untill after the vote, do you think Katniss is the better heroine or is it Sophie? Don't forget to Vote on the 22nd/23rd December when the polls are open at: http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/

The Tournament Of Heroines

The Tournament Of Heroines is a tournament consisting of 32 young adult heroines (from fiction books) Its created and run by the YA Sisterhood who blog about books and create these Tournaments. (And they do an amazing awesome job!)

They (and more info) are found here: http://ya-sisterhood.blogspot.com/p/summer-crushin-tournament.html

Now when I read about this tournament, looked at the matches and voted (YES YOU CAN VOTE! Thats how people win rounds) I imagined how the characters would actually interact with each other. So I started writing a fan-fic about a certain round thats coming up (23rd December people) between Rose (Vampire Academy) vs Alex (Half Blood) Now I've not actually read Half Blood so bear with me as you read.......

Rose stood in the shadows below the massive pine trees, one eye on the manor, the other on Eddie (who was taking a quick patrol around the garden) This was getting ridiculous. How was she supposed to ‘check out’ the house if she wasn’t allowed inside it. The guardian leading the raid had told her ‘sit tight and wait to see if anyone comes out. DO NOT come in. Understand?’ she thought this sort of attitude would have stopped when she finished up at the academy. She’d replied with a mock salute and stalked off to her position.
Alex slipped up to the girl waiting by the tree ‘Whats taking so long?’ The girl continued to sweep the area with her eyes as she turned ‘Don’t know, but none of these things usually turn out the way they’re supposed to” Grinning the girl said ‘Watch my position will you?’ and crept off to the house. Alex wasn’t getting the boring task dumped on her that easily. She gripped the dagger in her belt to be sure that it was still there and silently sped down the path. She was fast, moving through the garden like a shadow. Alex ducked between some trees and stood waiting.
Rose crept around the garden after she’d signaled to Eddie that she was heading off. She rounded a corner and there was that girl, long brown hair, deep brown eyes and full lips. If this was anything other than a stakeout she may have been intimidated. Now she was just annoyed ‘What are you doing here?’
‘Waiting for you, I want to see whats going on up there’
‘Well thanks for the offer but I can handle this myself’ The girl raised her eyebrows. With the height Rose would have thought she was Moroi, but she wasn’t as light and willowy as them. Still there was something different. ‘What are you?’
‘Half Blood’ So a dhamphir. Why didn’t some people just keep it simple? Oh well. Maybe she’s clumsy enough to catch the attention of another guardian and get sent back to her post. But with the way she just appeared there Rose doubted it ‘Don’t slow me down’
Alex followed the girl up to the house, she couldn’t sense any daimons nearby, but no one had said it wasn’t a possibility. She studied the girl ahead of her, she was agile, Alex could tell from the way she held herself and moved that they were both at similar skill levels. They stopped, the other girl - Rose - was still. Had she seen a daimon?
Rose paused she saw a flicker of movement, another guardian or a strigoi? She wouldn’t risk calling out. Rose headed forwards, slowly, quietly. Then all of a sudden it was upon them. A tall mass towering above them with those cold red eyes. The strigoi was fast and had the advantage of surprise, before she had time to act it had raised its arm preparing to send her flying - Alex was there, knocking him away. She had blade in hand and practically sliced the strigoi’s arm off. Rose had to give it to her, it was a tough move and she executed it perfectly. He lunged out at Alex, teeth bared. Rose was on her feet delivering a roundhouse kick to the guys stomach sending him back a touch enough for Alex to slip out of arms length. The strigoi turned, his face ablaze with anger. He lunged out at Rose but she was ready, dodging his blows, rolling under his arms and kicking away punches. Rose looked towards Alex and realized that she had no stake, but was advancing on the strigoi from behind. Alex grabbed him by the back of the shirt and sent him slamming to the ground. Rose saw her chance, launching onto the strigoi and driving the stake into its target with a perfect hit. He had one moment of life left as he looked up at Rose in shock and surprise. She stepped up off him and removed the stake.
Alex watched Rose as she stood and cleaned her stake it was short and silver and quite unlike the weapons she would normally use. Rose looked at her, there was a look of unwilling-respect in her eyes ‘We make a pretty good team’
‘The hottest team to take down one of these guys’ Alex grinned.
‘Come-on, someone would have heard that, we’d better get up to the house’

How will the story end? Who is the greater Heroine? We'll only know after the vote. Contribute to the vote (either Alex or Rose) The polls are open 22nd December and Close around the 23rd when the winner is announced.
